So on with the show. The focus of this site is the second case. It's infinitely more complex than the first attempt, and includes a custom chassis... but I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's start with the nice pictures of the exterior. To view larger versions of the ‘thumbs' simply click on the image.


This is looking at the front of the case. It is designed to sit behind a [~30“ high] desk. There are power and reset buttons, two CD drives, one Matrix-Orbital 20x4 LCD screen, two blue LEDs (power & HD activity) and a 3.5“ floppy drive




Viewed from the back right-hand corner (using the front view as our reference), we can see a lock and handle on the back, as well as the power cord snaking off to the left of the image.

Constructed as a paneled frame, the structural wood is all African mahogany. This includes the four vertical legs (which are hollow, open ended boxes) and the twelve cross-pieces (three per side). The moulding and trim, as well as the edge of the top, is also the same mahogany. In fact, this case began as several 20' boards, so it literally is the same wood.   more...
